FAQs and Links
-How is calculated the lens COLLECTION RATE ?
This Rate is the ratio between the flux emitted by the efficient surface of the lens and the total flux emitted by the LED (Lumens per LED). |
 |
High collection rates are the result of an accurate design of the collimating area of the lens. Lenses are also called collimators for this reason. The design of narrow angle optics is mainly focused on this function. All our custom lens designs have a minimum collection rate of 88%

-How is calculated the lens EFFICIENCY ?
This efficiency is the ratio between the lens flux inside a predefined observation angle and the total flux emitted by the LED. This predefined angle is not normalized, so it is difficult to qualitatively compare different luminous patterns with this factor. Nonetheless, lens designers agree that a particular angle objectively characterizes a lens. This angle, referred to as Half-angle Divergence (HAD), is the angle where the intensity reaches half of the maximum intensity of the lens.
We can then characterize a lens by its efficiency at the half-angle divergence, we call it HAD efficiency. |
 |
All our custom lens designs are focused on this HAD efficiency. This is why our products reach the highest efficiency available on the market.
-Do you provide IES files ?
Yes, we provide them for each of our LED/Lens couples to permit those of you wishing to simulate lighting from our lenses.

-What is the average leadtime for a custom lens design ?
3-4 weeks.
-How do you simulate lightsources ?
We use the Radiant Imaging data base. If your lightsource is not listed in their base, RI provides custom measurement services
-Which glue should I use ?
Epoxy or Silicone Glue
